Block Foam Mattresses
Mattresses that are made with a block foam core have become more and more popular in recent years, there are many differing types of foam ranging in, hardness, viscosity or elasticity and of course price.
Foams blocks are formed when chemical cocktails are mixed together to create a mild explosive reaction, a little like putting a sugar mint in a fizzy drink and shaking it, however instead of the foam bubbles just disappearing or turning back into liquid form, as it does with a fizzy drink, the large foam expansion solidifies very quickly trapping air creating air cells or tiny bubbles. It is these air cells that expand and contract under pressure that gives foam its bounce factor. Different chemical cocktails create the diverse range of foams.
Most foams that are used in block foam mattresses are designed to be on the harder in firmness, this is to give the finished product its supportive element, as well as a reasonable life span before having to be replaced. In order to offer the finished mattress a much more luxurious comfortable feel, Airsprung foam block mattress cores are, as a rule topped with a generous layer of softer more viscose Memory foam or Latex, as well as being surrounded in a lavish quilted, knitted fabric.
One of the most important aspects of the foam mattresses is safety! Foams have to be tested to make sure that they are not harmful to the end user, as well as undergoing rigorous fire safety tests.
